As an idependent consultant for a local school, I am trying to work out the best way to setup printing facilities. I have 1 computer in the main office plus 6 pcs in the computer room.

my options as I see them are:

    a) 1 inkjet in the main office for staff use
1 black laser jet for kids to use in class room

    Pro's: Most cost effective
    cons: Kids like color

    b) 1 Color laser serving all both office and class room

Pros, Has color, one printer to maintain
cons: Expensive to run, sensitive info my be sitting in class after printing from the office

    c) Several inkjets maybe 3 pcs per printer
    Pros, Cheap short term
cons, More printers to maintain, Expensive in the long term

Any more suggestions are very welcome.

Stuff the kids. (not in that way! naughty.)
Do not give them a colour printer - it's far too expensive, and encourages them to print stuff they shouldn't. If they need to print in colour-they can get a teacher to print pages for them, or they can go to a printers or print it at home, etc.
B&W laser for the kids. Colour for the teachers if they insist..otherwise, just another B&W printer (They can be as bad as the kids)

I see what your saying but fact is kids are a major factor with it being a school!

I'd agree with Karoma. Letting kids free access to print to colour at will would prove very expensive. They'd be printing off webpages in colour when B&W would do.

I'd go with B&W laser for kids (networked) and a colour or B&W for teachers.
Avoid any inkjets as your costs long term would be more expensive than with a laser.
