    Hey guys

Just a quicky, i have a blog installed on my machine locally, using XAMMP i installed and posted with the thoughts of uploading it eventually when i got a few posts under my belt.

I have hosting and all the things i need to run the site online but am curious about how easy or difficult it is to transfer it over hassle free. The database settings i have used on my local machine are different from the ones i have on my online account that im not sure i can change (terms of hosting)

Is it as easy as installing Wordpress 2.0 on my server and then uploading all my config files or do i have to do a MySQL dump and if i do will it overwrite my SQL settings (like dbname and user / pass that kind of thing)

Your help in this is much appreciated!

    Cheers

    Ben

Hm. Can you not export particular fields like posts and comments and then re-import them on the other side? That's what I tend to do when moving hosts.

    Install Wordpress 2.0.2.
Once its installed and the SQL databse has been made, start deleting the content bits (posts, categories, comments) of the DB
Import the bits from your original DB into the new DB, it will create the new content fields.

This usually works for me, though once you have the original DB backed up I just keep fiddling in PHPmyAdmin until it works! :)
