Hi folks, I got a present of a Samsung Digimax i5 today. Nice piece of work. But when I took a few photos and tried to download them to my iMac G5, I started to have trouble. I tried to load the camera software, which is OS9, my mac is OS10, so it doesent recognise it. I have iphoto on the mac so I tried to hook up the camera to mac but still nothing showing up on the desktop. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Don't bother load any software OS9 software is not required in as you have OS10 - OS10 should recognise the camera as a drive and you can access the photo. If you have iPhoto it will import your photo. Make sure the camera is turned on.

Maybe you have to set something in the camera which recognises it as mass storage media, like I have 3 on my Fuji - Webcam, print DPOF, and Mass Storage

try going to the websit and downloading drivers/softrware that are appropriate for your version of OS

Mac users are pretty much out in the cold in the software department. The only Mac-compatible thing on the CD is an old version of QuickTime for OS 9. Thankfully the Digimax i5 works just fine with iPhoto, so you should use that instead. To be honest, you're not really missing much by not using the Samsung software.

All you need if you are running OS X is to start the SUPPLIED Apple IMAGE CAPTURE software which you will find in your applications folder. The device when connected should be found automatically, if not go to setup new device in the menu. Save to whatever folder and then import to iPhoto if that is what you want to use.

I have never had any prob connecting any of my cameras to any of my macs, always just plug and play, bar one olympus which i had to setup the new device in image capture.

Good luck, PM if still stuck.

I'm sorted lads. My mistake, I had left the charger connected to the camera (its sits on it) instead of connecting cam directly to computer. I can now down load pics using iphoto fine. Thanks for help.

Linux...is like walking down the street with no pants on. Its blissful freedom, even if some people give you odd looks.
