Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows much about Silves in Portugal. My girlfriend is going there for 7 weeks in the summer and I hope to join her for two. It seems to be inland, is it far from the busy, touristy beaches? Afaik its a historical town that would not have much youth and could be boring (she's 21 and I'm 22).

Any info about the place and nearby 'youthful' towns, socialising, public transport or the location in general would be very helpful. From reading Wikipedia it seems to be very boring and only of interest to hillwalkers and sightseers

Praia Da Rocha is approx 15 kms from Silves. You might be better off, staying there, if " hectic" is your thing.
