Any info about the place and nearby 'youthful' towns, socialising, public transport or the location in general would be very helpful. From reading Wikipedia it seems to be very boring and only of interest to hillwalkers and sightseers

Praia Da Rocha is approx 15 kms from Silves. You might be better off, staying there, if " hectic" is your thing.
