EA's announced details of Armored Fury - the second "Booster Pack" for DICE's online shooter Battlefield 2.

Due out this spring for $9.99, Armored Fury will introduce maps set in the USA for the first time.

In an official website update, EA/DICE talks a bit about three of the maps, and says to expect six new vehicles - three scout helicopters, including the MD530 "Little Bird", and three ground attack aircraft like the A10 Warthog.

The maps are Operation Midnight Sun (battle for the Alaskan port of Valdez, where Chinese forces attempt to secure fuel from the pipeline), Operation Harvest (the MEC's marching towards Washington and American forces must halt the advance long enough for reinforcements to turn up), and Operation Road Rage (the MEC are using highways to move stuff toward industrial sites near civilian areas, and presumably you have to thump them for doing so).

The EA site also has a trio of screenshots, giving you an idea of what to expect.

Armored Fury will be released soon, shortly after the 1.3 patch which adds single-player co-op among other options. It's the second BF2 Booster Pack, following the release earlier this year of BF2: Euro Force.

    3 NEW MAPS

    * Operation Midnight Sun: The conflict spreads near the Pacific Ocean in a key battle for the Alaskan port of Valdez, where Chinese forces are attempting to secure much-needed fuel from the pipeline.
    * Operation Harvest: The MEC army begins their march East towards the U.S. Capital, and American forces must stall the advance long enough for reinforcements to arrive.
    * Operation Road Rage: The MEC forces have infiltrated deep into the USA, and are using the highways to move quickly towards key industrial sites that are dangerously near civilian areas.

To balance the wide-open tank battles with aerial firepower, six new vehicles will be introduced, including 3 scout helos such as the MD 530, Little Bird, and 3 ground attack aircraft like the A10 Warthog.

In addition, patch 1.3 is on the way, and with it comes single player co-op support, so you can grab a friend and tackle the bots as a team. More details to follow, so stay frosty!

Christ if the A2 is anything like the one in desert combat it'll be lethal. Used love using on El alemain in BF1942. Take out the tanks with the cannon and the cluster bombs used decimate infantry.

It will have Little Birds!!! Awesome! I have wanted to have them in an game ever since I saw Black Hawk Down. It will be worth getting just for that. Imagine the view you'd have flying over the battlefield while sitting on the skids! Can't wait!

Yeah Fairy, I remembered that after I posted. But as far as I can remember, you can't sit on the skids. And also they handle like crap. I have been hoping they would be included in BF2 at some stage. Can't wait!

Whaaaa wash yer mouth out. The heli physics in BFV and more so in DC was fantastic, way better than BF2, it took a serious pile of practice to fly those things. And from memory you could sit on the skids. Also there is a current BF2 mod with little birds in already.

Also you could sit outside the LB in DC but not shoot.

Yeah, no argument there. The physics in BFV were great and I enjoyed the challenge of flying but I just prefer the stability of the choppers in BF, that's all. It's a shame you can't play music when you hop into a vehicle in BF2. That would rock!
