Planning Laws - Northern Ireland

    Hi,
This could go into a few forums so if you think it should be moved please oblige.
I "heard" from a few people living in the north that they are now unable to get planning permission for "one off" houses due to some recent legislation however planning that was given before the legislation was passed are okay.
Apparently this is rather strictly enforced.
Needless to say I am fairly sketcy on the ins and outs of these new planning laws up there and would be interested to see the "official documents" on it.
Also, I remember that there was a ban or a difficulty in getting planning in the republic for one of housing at some stage (this may still be in place). Can anyone confirm?
Sorry about the questions, just need to have these cleared up for future reference,
    Cheers,
    Kippy

Most councils won't allow one-off houses unless you are farming the land.

The rules have been tightened up in the north, about 2 months ago and are now in line with UK. Just look at the houses in the middle of nowhere in South Armagh and you will understand why.
