This has been kept very quiet outside of nerds on the internet :o, but a substantial revamp of BBC National News presentation is taking place tomorrow, the last change having taken place over three years ago in January 2003 (aside from a minor background tweak since).

Over the past two weeks BBC News has come from a temporary studio to which the existing set had to be hauled over, while the proper studio (N6) got refitted. Hence the dodgy lighting some may have noticed on bulletins over this time.

It starts tomorrow with what is expected to be a completely new look for Breakfast probably including new titles too, and then the first new look National bulletin is One. It's expected the titles (intro) will stay pretty much as they are:

    ..but the set:

...will of course be completely different. Blue seems to be the new theme, and less chrome than present.
All will be revealed on Tuesday...

I must say that I like the current titles, but not the presentation style/set. It's has become too American. I look forward to the revamp. Hopefully it will be an improvement.

OMFG, I woke up and stuck on breakfast news this morning and thought their main studio had problems and they'd had to move to a temporary studio...

Judging by the calls and texts they were getting I wasn't the only one. The video wall thingy they've got going on is cool and all but the colours just didn't suit, it's very claustropobic or something...I'm sure I'll get used to it and end up not noticing it at all within a week, but I really liked theiur old colour scheme and style...that cardinal red thing and brushed metal thing they had going on was classy...this looks like a hark back to the 80's bluescreen superimposition b/g thing.
If it wasn't broke then why fix it?
How soon before RTÉ follow suit (now there's a studio that does need fixing)
