Audiovox SMT 5600/HTC Typhoon problem

    I own an Audiovox SMT 5600(USA) which I am pretty sure is sold as an HTC Typhoon in Ireland/Europe. Yesterday I had some problems. The phone completely drained of battery. I saw that it wasn't on so I powered it up when it told me the battery was just about dead. At that point I hooked it to my USB to draw some power. The phone did start but the main screen had problems, missing images on the shortcuts up top. After an hour I decided I should use the wall charger. Before I moved it to the wall charge I restarted it. It never got past the "Windows Mobile" startup screen. Since then it just sits there. It is now fully charged. It will not respond to power off, I have to pull the battery. It will not respond to ActiveSync either. I have done a hard reset using soft keys, power and 0. It's still just sits on Windows Mobile. I am at a loss. I found info online about how to flash the ROM and reload the OS but it seems extreme.

    Anyone help?
