Hangovers....

How do you feel after a night of drinking? I don't mean 2 or 3 pints down in the local. I mean a full night out from pub to club to party, the kind of thing where you drink quite a bit.
I've always been well able to mix it up with the bast of them but I'm really noticing these days that I feel like sh*t the next day. Even when the actual physical hangover passes my head is still wrecked, I feel down and just want o hide on the sofa watching DVDs for the day! Although with my 33rd birthday coming up maybe It's just getting old!

Depends on what I'm drinking really! I can drink bourbons and never get a hangover, wines and be ill all day, some beers and stay in bed all day, or vodka and never come home!

I'm usually grand if I mix bourbons and beers though.

Best idea is to eat loads of toast when ya get home. Always works for me!

The worst advice I ever got about hangovers was from my cousin.

'When you get home after a feed of pints, open up a bottle of red wine and skull as much of it down as possible'.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,386 ✭✭✭Attol

Don't tell me you actually followed through with that advice?

How the **** is that logical?? :p
Down a pint of water or two usually, because sometimes I just wake up really early a bit dehydrated.

Keep drinking, then you don't get hungover.

    Works for me.

ties in perfectly with the wine thing :D

drink some water, and have an obligatory raid on the fridge (or mcdonald's) and fill up on sugar/salt etc.

i don't suffer from hangovers anyway, but everyone i've told to do this has reported back positive results.

on the morning after i'm just tired more then anything ;)

    It really varies.
Taking me and two of the people living with me now on a scale, just as they are in my line of sight.
Guy:Gets really really bad ones and can barely get out of bed for work at 5pm
Girl:not as bad but around average.
me:I never get any. Fresh as a daisy when I wake up, which is always oddly early too.

All I know is that I count my blessings.

One you hit your thirties in my opinion your better off not drinking at all....Well maybe a few scoops but leave it to the teeny boppers.:)

Well it all depends on the voulume of drink consumed , doesnt it? To those people who say they dont get any hangovers, how much are you drinking? Because il GUARANTEE you after drinking, say 15+ pints in a night and god knows what else, you'l feel like youv stepped in to the ninth circle of hell the next day! :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,479 ✭✭✭wheres me jumpa

I get some horrible hangovers. Very unpredictable too, could have just a few beers and the next day im hungover! Went demento last night and feel ok today, so i never make plans for the next day.

For those of you suffering might I suggest the best breakfast ever which i just had.....

Potatoe waffle(birdseye of course!), fried egg and fried ham all on tp of eachother..........mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I just (If I can....I don't usually get so drunk that I KO) wait until i'm sober and force 3 or 4 pints of water into me before going to bed. That coupled with not getting up until 1 or 2 the next day means I'm pretty much always fine.

Even when I'm hammered I know when to stop drinking because of the possibility of a hangover. I've had a few that I'll never forget, and they scared me or something

Nope, believe me, my friends have got me to try that and see. Then I went out and started off with two naggins the next night while their hands shook as they reached for their first pint...at which stage I was called a lucky asshole. :D
I talked to the statues both nights on shop street in galway, apparently I traumatised them.

Does it depend on what you drink?
I drink primarily bulmers. Then from the following; devils bit, lindon village, vodka, southern comfort, JD and sambucha.

Moved on from beer at a young enough age, now I can't stand it.

    Edit

I'm the same.. Dont get hangovers.
It must be the elusive sligo gene. :)

No that was an exception as it was a twenty first. I rarely drink that much, actually haven't drank in like a month at the least now come to think of it, and my liver is perfectly healthy. I have to have routine check ups on it for reasons.

No - but my cousin's younger brother did.

He said he 'felt like sh*t' the following day.

He's very gullible though. Back in the early 1980s he had a toothache (caused by a filling that had partly fallen out / nerve exposed etc) so I told him to chew on a piece of tinfoil to ease the pain. He fell for it.:D

If I've a bad hangover, I feel like killing myself to make it go away. I honestly wonder whether I'm in hell.

If it's a medium hangover, I just lie on the couch for the day and moan.

If it's a light hangover, a cup of tea and two slices of toast does the trick, and I'm good to go!

My hangovers last for a couple of days after 2 or 3 nights drinking. I was out on Saturday and Sunday night and my body still aches this morning. I'm also not in a great mood. This is after spending yesterday in bed watching the snooker. It just drains me out. I can't see myself giving it up but maybe I'll give up the spirits at the end of the night.

Frobisher, your body is sending you a message. "**** off and stop abusing me, stupid" is the loose translation. "Grow up, time to give up the mad drinking" is another. And your body is telling its parts: "Come in liver, your time is up..."

I find if I have a few drinks having not drank for a few days prior I get terrible hangovers... I had a few drinks on Thursday and came into work dying, then Friday night I drank again, probably more than Thursday and Saturday morning I was fine... Suppose you just get immune to it really.. I do anyway

Ok well if i stick to the beer only my hangovers are grand, in fact id barely get any!

If i decide to live a little when im out and start hitting the shorts(after too many pints) then i really feel it the next day and not sure where im at.

    But...

If i get stupid drunk and turn to drinking wine(cause there aint anything else to drink) i feel like my head has been caught between automated doors for the entire night
