Why I suck at poker

Well I am sure there are numerous reasons for this but by fair my main problem I think anyway is my inability to fold when I get a half decent hand, I just can't seem to resist the call button, here is a prime example

    Seat 1 : LiLmsPoteat starts with 9,500
    Seat 5 : cooker3 starts with 9,200
Seat 5 : cooker3 has the dealer button
    >>>DEALING HOLE CARDS<<<
    cooker3 dealt down Td Ts
FeltShark posts the small blind 100
OrigamiKid posts the big blind 200
    OracleX folds
    Do-Sun folds
    pajo calls 200
    LiLmsPoteat raises 300 to 500
    boonboo folds
    Alex_ folds
    dekota2 calls 500
    cooker3 raises 1,200 to 1,700 (comments)
    FeltShark folds
    OrigamiKid folds
    pajo folds
    LiLmsPoteat calls 1,200
    dekota2 folds
    >>>DEALING FLOP<<< [ 5h 7d 6c ]
    LiLmsPoteat checks
    cooker3 bets 3,200 (comments)
    LiLmsPoteat calls 3,200
    >>>DEALING TURN<<< [ 6d ]
LiLmsPoteat bets 4,600 and is all-in
    cooker3 calls 4,300 and is all-in (comments)
    LiLmsPoteat takes back 300
    LiLmsPoteat cards were Qd Qh
    cooker3 cards were Td Ts
    >>>DEALING RIVER<<< [ Qc ]
LiLmsPoteat wins 19,400 with a full house, queens full of sixes

Now does anyone call the all-in or does play look as bad as it looks to me now.

Is this heads up? If so I find it hard to fold TT heads up. All depends on the opponent.

Oh no it was a full table

I don't think you played this badly at all. It all depends on what the table has been like, how he has been playing etc, but playing this hand the way you did here is fine without any other info IMO.

what did you think he was playing with

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,254 ✭✭✭fuzzbox

His range is way ahead of yours when he calls the flop bet.

TT is a dangerous reraising hand in full ring, especially against a relatively early position raiser, who only raised a little bit.

I check the turn, and have to find a fold on the river when he pushes. It costs me some chips, but thats the way it goes.

i think when he called such a large reraise alarm bells should be ringing. its in relatively early position and his range of hands should be narrowed down at this point to a high pair. check and fold to a raise you still have plenty of chips left to work with and find a better position.

Yes looking back, that's obvious now. At the time I thoought maybe he has 99 88 and still thinks overpair is good but I think I was trying to justify what was clearly a bad call which I knew well at the time, hence the title of the thread. I know I need to tighten up this area of my game drastically as it's huge leak of mine!

what did he have as a matter of intrest?:confused:

He had QQ, that was in original post I believe

I think it's a bit ironic that you got beaten by trip queens, considering.

You just will not let me forget will you!
At least that was a hand where I can be happy with play for the most part.

    :D

The last three hands I've heard from you have all involved trip queens....and copious amounts of bad luck.

I wouldn't have reraised preflop, and probably wouldn't have called the all-in. But then again, we do play different types of poker and you did have an overpair, but at the same time he would have been unlikely to call your reraise with a hand that was behind.

I pretty much agree with bubbleking, judging by last week he knows when to fold ;)

Btw, that was an private joke with him, not a jab at you for not folding this, in case you took it that way.
