Can anyone provide some info on what this actually is? Benefits? Where to get it, etc?

loads of great posts in this search.

www.pokerpromotions.net is a good site where you can get PT for free by signing up to BoDog with $25 and playing 100 raked hands.

at the moment i'm playing $10, $20 STT's. Getting in the money aroun 60-70% of the time. Slowly building my bankroll, showing a consistent profit. Dont want to jump up to soon to higher levels as a few losses will do more damage than at the current levels.

Normally if i win two STTs at one level then i'll play the next one at a higher level, kind of a freebee idea.

Never used any hand recording system, keep a record of my profit and losses on each site, and a good narrative along side it.

Play a few MTT's here and there, small cash games ocassionally. Main income is from the STTs.

Unless you play loads and loads of STTs, 4 tabling for several hours a day for example, pokertracker won't be too helpful. You need records of thousands of Stts before you can make anything useful out of the statistics.

    Good for cash games though.

i only multi table at cash games, if i play an STT then i concentrate on that alone, lose to much information by not concentrating on the game at hand if multi tabling STT. This way i can vary my game depending on my opponents tendencies. By multi tabling i dont pick up their tendencies as quick.

Cash games i play tight and aggressive but dont vary much as i tend to multi table, not losing at these but not making any real profit either.

Thanks for the input, i have photographic memory anyway so i tend remember what worked in the past and what didnt, using this along with player notes. i probably wont get a lot of advantage from poker tracker because of my lack of multi tabling.

PT is invaluable for cash games! If you play at a site that it supports then it makes sense to have it. Also look into PokerAce HUD (or Gametime is you want a freebie/crappier solution).

I've got the Omahahaha PT too and i'm thinking of getting the stud one even though I rarely play stud online (cash games). Don't let the cost put you off as what it teaches you will save the cost of it many times over. That's even if you play low levels.

Another thing that's out now is Pokeroffice. It's pretty much the same as PT but it has some extra graphs and stuff and the POkerAce stuff is integrated into it. I found it slows down my computer if i've 2 table running though.
