Getting a lot of interference with one guitar...

Might sound a bit odd, but on one guitar I've got, the bridge humbucker seems to pick up a very distracting amount of interference. Now, I opened her up, to see if there was a problem with the wiring or anything, but it's fine. Everything is ground properly, so does anyone here have any ideas of what might be the cause?

No, it's not. And it's in the same position playing as any other guitar I've got, which incidentally, none other guitar gets this kind of buzz.

Does it change with a different amp? Do your other guitars have the same electronics?

I'd guess it isn't wired properly. Is this the 7 string?

    Remove and resolder that pickup.

+1, had the same prob with my air norton a few days ago after it had been installed, resoldering the pickup fixed it.

I may be way off but you could try shielding the control cavity. Some manufacturers do it. Either use copper tape or (I think) Lead paint. These mare the most common methods and both can be found in DIY stores or luthiers suppliers like stewmac.com or luthiers mercantile international.

Try resoldering first tho' as it's a lot less hassle.

Fair enough, I'll go and resolder when I've got the time and inclination again. Thanks.

Im 99% sure this isnt your problem but its a handy thing for people to know anyway, Some watches cause interfierance with your pickups, the radio digital ones that adjust themselves and the ticking in the analogue ones. Most of ye may know that but i said id add it anyway.

if it's buzzing with the strings muted it means that the pickup has short circuited (either through the leads or a faulty socket) or that you have a reverse ground somewhere in the circuit...

are all the unused tabs of the volume and town pots grounded to the pot casing?

are there any possible short circuits?

    how old are the pots?
