is there any application that can batch add copyright info to images. Either putting © Photographer's Name or something in the corner somewhere?

Or is there a better way to do it?

Do you currently have an image editing software package installed? Photoshop can do it, I'm sure other image editing packages have scripting facilities.
It may be better to make a custom brush and put the information in yourself -takes a bit more time and effort but it's less prone to ruining an image.

You could probably do something like that on Photoshop using a batch command. Do you have Photoshop?

    Google gave me this link:

Read the comments as it has tips on how to place the text.

(while we're here, anyone know of a batch keyword/file info editor - cheap or expensive?)

Have you thought of digitally embedding a copyright message in a watermark. I haven't looked into it but I came across this crowd http://www.digimarc.com/. They claim to ensure that copies of your photos will always be identifiable.

I have photoshop yes so I could do it that way. My problem is that a few other bands from the gig the other night now want photos from then and want me to take shots again next week. All fine with me as I want the experience and they get free shots.

As said I'm not charging them but I want to make sure that I get credited for them and can prove/mark them as copyright.
