    Hi,

I will be flying to London soon and I was wondering how easy it is to get to central London from Luton airport and how long it takes? Is there a rail connection? Bus? How much?
    Cheers!

    Do you google?

    By Rail
Regular rail services to central London take as little as 25 minutes. Other destinations include the south coast, the Midlands and northern England, operated direct by Thameslink- Luton Airport Express and Midland Mainline.

A constant, free shuttle bus service operates to and from Luton Airport Parkway Station, this is a 5 minute trip from the airport terminal building.

I checked the trains for you too, prices seem to be between £11 and £16 and depart every 5 to 15 minutes.

Train duration is either 27 or 50 minutes depending on which train you get on - going to either london bridge or london st pancras. Seems to be plenty of options...

I prefer Luton to the other airports myself as its less busy and much closer to the city center which means less money spent on tube/rail tickets)

    is luton cheapest?

i always thought stanstead was closer... and that the airports in terms of flight prices went

    LHR
    LGW
    STN
    Luton

not to mention city as AF is the only carrier to fly from dub

Stansted is the worst of the lot, be it on time from London, links to other places in SE England, traffic congestion getting there, parking (a joke), time for luggage to come off the plane...it drives me insane!!

Luton is increasingly becoming a pain to travel out of, the time to get to the gates is unreal compared to a few years ago.

London City Airport is about 10 miles from central London, Heathrow is 15 and the other three are about 35 miles away.

Which is quickest really depends on where in London your destination is and it's ease of access from the various Airport links.

There is very little difference in the cost of either LHR, LGW, LTN or STD. Only Heathrow is inside the London travelcard zones so the others always require extra for travel into London.

Yeah it's a nightmare. My Gran was getting a flight back to Dublin from there with me recently and it was awful. She can walk for a good bit, but her legs were just about to give out. It was well over a mile walk to the gate. I asked several people who worked there for a wheel chair along the way, but because we didn't book one (we didn't think we'd be walking that far!) noone helped us. We would have taken our time only the woman at the check in desk told us to hurry up. Then we got there and it took another half hour for us to board.

London City is great imo, its a bit more expensive to fly there because only Cityjet go from Dub, but worth it.

depends if im going to London I go ryanair. I always check each airport and see the prices as I find that they vary depending on when you want to go. Some times standsted is cheaper, sometimes Luton etc. luton is small and I like that as you dont have very long to wait for luggage. I also found that because Luton was close to the city I spend less on a train ticket to get from the airport to the city. lasttime I went I went to stansted as the flights were cheapest there but the time before that It was Luton

I used to love Luton - compact, calm, like a little bus station. But they've now installed what you might call an Irish Gate (or a Polish Gate, they send the Poles out to Siberia as well) and you have to put on your hiking boots and treck for half an hour to get to the boarding gate.

I really hate Gatwick, because they don't tell you till the last moment what gate to go to, then you have to make a mad rush for *miles*. And it's a hard airport to find your way around - they hide the gate entrances cunningly among the shops.

(Why airports can't be designed in a way that it's the same distance to every gate I can't imagine. Or why they don't have transport out to the boarding gates. There used to be little open buses like the ones for kids in the Zoo, but they have been abandoned everywhere.)

I love London City Airport, but it's too expensive to fly there.

When I fly to London I always buy a one-day Tube-train(-bus?) travelcard for around £12 to £16 depending on where you're getting it. It means you don't have to stop out and work out what fare to pay on every Tube and train.

If you buy it after 9.30 its around 4-6 squid depending on zones...
