Thinking of booking a holiday and thinking maybe salou. I'm mid 20's, he's early 30's. Looking to go somewhere lively but not non stop drinking either. Want to relax as well. (he might have other ideas). Can anyone recommend an apartment complex / hotel in salou? Or even some other place apart from salou for a relaxing holiday, good pubs, and not loads and loads of screaming kids. Thanks :)

I was also going to go to Salou, (same age as yourself), until I read these reviews:- http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054919082

    I'm now going to Rhodes.
    It seems to be gorgeous

I haven't read the attached thread on the reviews

but i have been there a couple times prob when i was 17 and again at 20...

Universal studios are brilliant i think... nite life is good aswell, but as a couple just be careful... especially at nite... my brother was walking 300yards fromt he pub to our appartment and was hopped by 13 spanish and mugged, got a serious beating ended up in hospital, and the second time i was there a ground of spanish were chasing a couple (girl adn fella) from a nite club beating the fella, felt so sorry for them, what could i do 1 of me and 12 or 13 of them, i just had to run myself

of course this kinda thing can happen anywhere like... don't let it put u off the beaches are great, the markets are great, food and drink are great!!! if you stay on the main strip you are fine, i found most of the hassel is when you go into the more Spanish areas rather that the touristy areas...

But i would go back there on a holiday.... in saying that i haven't been there in 6 years so may have changed, but each to their own :p

are you sure these muggers are spanish??? in all the time that i have lived there ive never known any1 be jumped by spanish, salou is a place of loads of ethnicities and sometimes spanish can be mistaken for others . i admiit that you have to be careful butt u should always be. there are loads of police there for tourists safety. and from what i kno alot of attacks are provoked or to do witth drugs.
