Some of them have a 12ms response time.
When I had mine it was perfect for gaming. It's a great monitor

It's a very good monitor for gaming as it interpolates much better than any other LCD that I have used. By this I mean that yuou can run a game full screen at a non-native resolution (ie. 1024x768 instead of 1680x1050) with no discernable loss in image quality.

I have the 2001FPW (more or less the same) and I love it!!

Honestly its great, I hug it most nights before I go bed....

Seriously thinking of getting a 2nd one

    whats the 16ms model.

Use the 2001fp myself and it runs games flawlessly @16ms...I'm not a competitve FPS player though, which is where ghosting will show up, but in games such as farcry, oblivion or HL2 running at high fps, I get no discernible ghosting, and like someone else said, the interpolation is great (although I run games at native res a lot of the time, oblivion being the exception).

I also love it for movies/TV.

    2005fpw owner here...
No ghosting at all, but one thing I've noticed with this monitor is that you have to turn vsync off on your gfx card or there'll be a very noticable lag between your input and the outcome on screen... not sure why that is or if it happens on all flat panels, but it had me driven mad for weeks before I tried it without vsync.

The viewing angles are excellent... not like some of the more shítty laptop screens I've seen where you have to be facing it directly.
    Clarity, colour, contrast... all lovely.
And the widescreen aspect is very, very nice if you watch movies on your PC.

I still miss my CRT... you just can't beat the liquidy smoothness of 120Hz refresh and 120 fps.
I notice this most of all when playing a driving game... I don't get the same feeling of traveling at speed on my 60Hz TFT as I did on my 120Hz CRT.
That's really my only complaint... I want a flat panel that has brain-meltingly high refresh rates.

Uhm... it's got a nice AV input aswell, so you can hook up a VCR or games console... which can look a bit blurry when scaled up... you can also use picture-in-picture with this... so you can have the lower-res AV/Scart (PAL or NTSC) displayed in a little box, while your PC desktop is underneath... or do half & half split screen etc.
Has both DVI and VGA sockets, so you can hook up two PCs to it and split screen (or pic-in-pic) them on the same screen, or toggle between them.
    Quite handy tbh.
My bro also has one, neither monitor had any dead pixels on arrival (nor have they now).
Not sure what else to say about it really except that the price for this monitor often fluctuates madly on the dell website... I've been watching the price since I bought it... sometimes it's on sale for a good 30 - 40% less than I payed for it... sometimes it's a few quid more... so maybe wait for a good deal on it.

They'll be slashing the prices again soon id say as the new model is coming out n they're trying to clear stock... Most of the time they're cheaper in the uk from non dell sources...

www.overclockers.co.uk have em at good prices but if u ring the dell small buisness line u can haggle n get some good prices if u get through to the right person.. There was a page on a forum somewhere that explained how to haggle with dell n it works a treat, i'll try n dig it up...

The last time I looked Overclockers were also throwing in a four year warranty instead of three. That said the cheapest of the offers from Dell is better value if you can wait for it. As pointed out above the price of the 2005FPW fluctuates greatly. I checked it a few minutes ago and it's 130 dearer than what I paid for mine (direct from Dell).

20" Widescreen Dell seems to be very popular, almost all workstations that I've seen on the internet, owners had 2005s. Probably going to grab a 2007 myself when it's out.
