Haven't played it for a while, so someone else will give you better advice. Basically I recomend that you be prepared to use all your rebuys/top-up. AFAIR it can be crazy before the break, so you might end up involved in multi-way all-in pots with a chance of being outdrawn, even with a monster (it happens!). But if you think you're ahead, try to get the money in. After the break things will settle down a bit, so go back to your normal game (assuming the above isn't normal!).

Don't be intimidated at all as there will be plenty of newish players in for this game as well as some of the regulars. As Lenny says there is plenty of loose play before the break so don't be afraid to mix it up if you go with the mentality that it might cost €85 in total, even though don't play blind agression or it will end up costing that.

After the break play will tighten up somewhat but don't think that it is full of good players, this will be patently not true. I enjoy this tournament but sadly will not be attending tonight.

As for making newbie mistakes, observe other players betting styles (way they put chips in pot, announce bets etc) and you won't go far wrong by following the ones that don't get called up on it. This is the best way of avoiding the 'newbie' image that others might look to exploit. Alternatively that might be something you want to exhibit in order for some to underestimate you.

    Good luck and enjoy.

    Relax and enjoy yourself.

Actively try and create a profile for the players you are playing to decide how they play certain types of hands.

    Budget to spend the max.

Just home people, came 13th out of 5 tables (I think 50 people), 4 outside a payout.

Doubled up after the 1st hand, caught pocket queens off the flop and went all in before the river.

Overall my play was ****, just wasn't concentrating at all.

I had a good time and for a first timer I think I did ok.

There were some ****ing assholes there too, jerks :p

D'worry about that. What sort of things were these 'jerks' saying?. Of course you experienced these 'assholes' on different tables throughout the tournament right?;)

    Name names!! Start a fight!!

I want to see anyone brave enough to take on a man called Keyser Sose...

In all seriousness though, can you give us an example of what you consider 'asshole' behaviour?

Sorry no i definately wasnt there. I'd never be underhanded about trying to get information like that. I just want to hear a bit of gossip:)

Nah I played bad, and I went in with a suited 34 (Terrible play I know), and I caught 2 fours of the flop and it was game over for the other lad, pure luck.

So there was a few smart comments like maybe I'll start playing **** and start winning. I was chip leader at the time so I wasn;t backing down.

And no I'm not playing cash games with any of you!! :p

Also a few times when people where calling out of turn etc., and this guy was a regular there.

Ah yeah I remember you, didn't get a decent card of you all night :p

Any advice for me if I go back?

The 33 hand was horrible - fold preflop.
In terms of playing live again youll be grand, youll be less nervous and get to know some of the regulars - the vast majority are grand.

    Hey Keyser,

If you dog someone there is going to be comments in live play. Thats the beauty of it. A lot of people play a more basic game and make a lot less "moves" because of this peer pressure. You adapt and you use it to your advantage. I love a guy who asks how can you call my raise with 8To.

Or why are you raising with some utter crap that hits the flop big style? If they don't know don't educate them. Be grateful to have them at your table. Don't moan about it afterwards either. A good player wants these guys in his game everytime.

If you are folding out of turn you should be called up on it - its bad form and gives away info on your play and effects the hand for other people. There has been plenty of discussion on this before so I won't reopen that debate but how hard is it to wait your turn?

GL with your live play in the future and I hope to meet you at the tables.

    Olly.

Yeah I wasn't concentrating at all, just trying to take it all in.

And yes I know I should've folded pre flop, just got impatient.

Thanks for the advice Olly, hope to play you soon.
