    Hi all,

Been hanging around here for a while, picking up info on buying a classic, getting insured etc. - Thanks for everyone's help - Its been really useful reading about previous experiences.

I've been a karmann ghia fan ever since I spotted my first one in '96.(although i didn't know what it was then!)

Been looking for a while - nearly bought a rotten one last year, until common sense prevailed. Finally found one online through the owners club - gb. Spent almost three weeks sounding out the seller by email with photos and details / scanned docs / history etc.

And last weekend, myself and my girlfriend hopped on a flight to London, met the seller at heathrow (a genuine enthusiast) and spent the weekend driving back to dublin.
We enjoyed every minute of it, weather was perfect, and car ran perfectly at 65 on the inside lane - best roadtrip yet and more to come!

    cheers!

yeah, according to the cert supplied by volkswagen, it was originally yellow. - not sure exactly when it was repainted - has a couple of small rust spots bubbling under the paint under the sills and around the headlights tho', so i'll be looking to get sorted soon enough
