Luggage / Box on a bros

    Hi,

I'm missing not having a back box on my bros. I had one on my TDR and It was invaluable. Does anyone here have a rack and box fitted to their bros's?

I've put a wanted ad in fs motors as i thought someone might have a givi rack with universal brackets.

If i can get a box I will be looking at soft panniers.

Are you looking to haul around a load of heavy or bulky items? If not or for general use how about a tank bag? I am amazed at how much I can fit in mine (with careful organised packing :))

I would definitely consider it alright. I liked the box i had before because i could leave it locked, which at least gave me some peace of mind that my lid and chains were relatively safe. The tank-bag wouldn't be secure which would be a little annoying - It is the norm to just take it with you when you go indoors?

afaik, there are no racks designed for the bros, most have to be modified to fit as the bros was never designed to carry much load on the rear of the bike

i spent a while looking for one when i had my bros, gave up in the end & im not a good welder so i just bought a tank bag

The tank bag I have is surprisingly secure. It fits perfectly on the tank with about 8 magnets. There is also a strap that goes around the forks. With the fully expanded tank bag on, I doubt I would be able to read the speedo/rev counter, but it wouldn't interfere with vision on the road. Maybe slow manouverability would be a little awkward too. That said, I don't think the bros is a tourer and I only use it for every day things like a change of clothes/lunch/raingear/lock/and the odd shopping trip etc.

I take it with me when I get off the bike - even when I go into the petrol station to pay, basically because you can just lift it off, so no it is not "secure" in that sense. For going around town, the magnets unzip and the bag can be worn as a back pack which is handy too.

If you need an actual box, try and stop a courier that has one and ask them how/where they got theirs. Most though seem to have a crate tied onto the back with spider hooks!

Sounds good that you can take it with you as a backpack. Who is the manufacturer and do you have the model name?, I might go ahead and get one. Thanks.

I have the Buffalo Touring Tank Pack

It comes apart so you can use a number of different combinations of sections.

A friend has the Lidl one for the past year or so and says it's great.

I thought all Bros topboxes were fixed using bungees? ;)

I bought a tank bag in Aldi a few weeks back: great value, 28 yoyos, loads of pockets. Can carry my work ID card in pocket and swipe into car park easily, no more balancing the bike on a down ramp, pulling car from inside pocket. Can be turned into a rucksack, rain cover built-in, lots of extra pockets: can carry phone on one, sunglasses in another, change in another for tolls...
