    Hello Boards users!

I wish to grovel for something (Not like that)!

As you may or may not know, the state science exam for Junior Cert. has changed recently, and a thing called "Coursework 2" has been launched.
There is a topic this year about germinating peas, and how they germinate faster if pre-soaked.

I am aware that this is a relatively simple experiment, and how there is not much to it, but I kindly ask that you lads' and lassies' out there in Cyberspace help me.

Please forward me any information, details and recommendations for my topic to me. If possible to my email address.
[I would be very appreciative if the info. was in standard text format, as I must read it off a mobile phone's email system].

    metalmosher@eircom.net

Please contact me back asap, as the topic deadline, for the report to be handed in, is on this Thursday at 0900; so please have info sent to me by tomorrow, Wednesday, by 1200 at the latest.

    Thanks very much,

    Yours Sincerely,

    MetalMosher.

I thank you for your reply- it was nice to see I got some feedback, no matter what. But, I must assure you, I have done vast research already, I am just trying to gain assistance and information to go with that gathered results.

I am not trying to scab off others like you have made me out to be doing!

    Thanks,
you are very kind in your thoughtful approach in helping me.

    MM.

Urm this isn't exactly rocket science. I don't see why you need information from other people, except if you have done absolutely no work on this project and are trying to get other people to do your work for you!

The principles of any scientific experiment is to prove or disprove an hypothesis. The hypothesis here is that presoaked peas germinate faster because they have already absorbed sufficient water to begin germination whereas unsoaked peas need to absorb water first.

In any scientific experiment you need to compare with a control and also to repeat the experiment with several peas as some of them may be dodgy and give strange results and finally to take the average between the peas in each group to allow for random factors which always arise in experiments with living organisms.

Since there has been another thread on this experiment, I am closing this one.

Of note - these experiments take some time and there is no way you would have results from it by thursday even with our guidance.
