AC:WW neighbours

Is there any point to the neighbours in AC:WW? For the third week in a row, one of my neighbours is sick. I ignored last week's and he moved out after 2 days. I've lost about 6 neighbours since I started, but unless there's some point to the mindless chattering I get from talking to them, I'm just not going to be bothered maintaining friendships.

They're a bit annoying but they can be handy. If you buy the sick ones medicine in nooks, after a few days, they get well and then they send you gifts through the post. If you buy people items for collections they have they'll give you items in return, it can be a good way of getting unusual items. If you make really good friends with them they'll sometimes give you or send you presents just cos they like you so much.

apart from knocking stuff out of the sky they are the easiest way for collecting rare items. if you become friends they send you better stuff and if you send them fruit from your town the will usually send you a different type of fruit.

hmm, and if you stay friends with them they will give you paintings of them which have a huge HRA rating

If you don't like the animals in your town then this probably isn't the game for you.

It's not that I don't like them. In fact I'm quite fond of that pigeon-type thing living over the bridge. I nursed it back to health you know. But unless there's some compelling reason to maintain friendships, I'll just put it to the bottom of a (very long) list for the time being. I just need to sort out the trees, plant some more flowers, catch 57 different fish, bugs and bits of dinosaur and pay off my mortgage and I'll be right with them.

If you want to get the pictures of the animals then you need to be good friends with them for a while.
The pictures give you quite a few points from the Happy Room Academy so it all leads to lots of nice items.

Send the little sods fruit and shells and they'll send you nice things. My favorite is sending them rubbish I fish out of the river (cans, shoes etc), and getting expensive stuff in return.
