    N77 Kilkenny Ring Road Extension

The scheme consists of 4.2 km of wide single carriageway construction from the existing Carlow Road Roundabout to a new roundabout north of Glendine on the Castlecomer Road. It involves a new bridge over the Kilkenny-Dublin Railway. Constuction by Regans commenced in April 2005.

Please click here for a map of the scheme in PDF.
    Lenth 4.2km
    Finish Date Q2, 2007

If you want to see a map of the bypass it on www.nra.ie in the scheme activity.

Cheers, had a look at that there now. It seems to end beyond Dunmore on the map, hopefully that will be the case in reality!

Now if only they do the rest of the road as far as Durrow, widen and straighten the lot and blast that stupid Dinan bridge out of it forever!!Enough people have crashed there in the past

Construction began in april 2005 alright, but then it stalled for about 8 months and only resumed last month
Its going very near my house, and they'll be turning our road into a flyover (so we're told). In the meantime massive Volvo BM trucks are destroying it by driving back and forth across it. The surface is now in bits and capable of doing proper damage to your car if you're not prepared for it.
You'll see the state of it if you drive out past the kilkenny golf club towards ballyfoyle.

As far as I know, the new part of the ring road will extend from the carlow road roundabout to the comer road but a bit closer to kilkenny than Dunmore.

Hopefully it'll be worth the chaos in the end though, no more gridlock on the Carlow and Comer roads, wo hoo!!!
They shud have extended it beyond Dunmore further out, that stretch is reallly bad!!
