    Hey All,

Just bought a 400w power supply for my PC, the problem is the "main" connector for the motherboard is too big(extra 2 pins in width(so theres 4 pins) do you know what i mean here?

Anyways, i plugged this into the slot, so 4 of the pins are not used, now the pc boots up fine and all so i am thinking am i ok here or should i expect trouble, anybody know anything about this stuff. very much appreciated

The empty four pins are on your motherboard, right? Once your PSU is a decent quality one, you should have no trouble. The extra four pins are for extra power.

My own setup is like yours. 4 empty pins on the motherboard. My PSU is a decent one though.

No i mean 4 pins of the power supply are not being used now, the connector on the motherboard is too small for it,

The extra 4 pins on the main PSU connector are commonly for ATX2.0 motherboards that use this sort of connector (not too common yet).

As was mentioned your motherboard will run just fine without using them, some of the PSU's have these extra 4 pins as clip on/off able so you can remove them in systems where they are not used.
