I am having a problem with a girl who is constantly spreading malicious rumours about me and it beginning to really affect me. Is it possible for a solictor to write me a letter threatening legal action if she doesn't stop it and does anyone know of a solicitor who will do it? Somewhere in the city centre.

Sorry to hear you are having bother with this girl, but you might get a better response here.

Unless you can prove it, it's gonna be difficult!

The law is funny regarding this stuff. For example, a solicitor could send YOU a letter stating how you are a slapper, thief, murderer etc. This is perfectly legal and fine.

Basically, if you cannot prove that the person saying the bad things is being malicious (as in, whether she really believes what she is saying is true or is just being a bitch) then there is little you can do!

    It sucks.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

I'm sure there's some form of cease and desist letter you can send in the case of slander...
