What magazines do you get? I usually buy Practical Photography and Amateur Photography, find they're pretty good, give good advice and whatnot. Digital Photo has some alright tutorials, but I find there's not much in it for the money.

Digital Camera magazine I get (dcmag.co.uk) - It's the only camera mag I've ever read really and quite liked it...

I'm a subscriber to the weekly Amateur Photographer.

Digital Camera for me as well, I've bought a few others as well, but the only one I buy monthly is Digital Camera.

I dip in once in a while to Amateur Photographer and Practical Photography. I don't get either regularly as I find they can be quite repetitive in their articles, esp. PP.

I only buy if it has something interesting and not a rehash of something they've covered already, like PP's "Get out and do landscapes/portraits/macros etc, etc" which they do with increasing regularity. If you have one article on the topic, that usually does for a few years' worth of referring back to.

I just subscribed to Practical Photography, mainly because you get a free Orion Trekker backpack which I need. The subscription cost about 100 euro so its not bad value.

Buy "Black and White Photography" magazine a bit. It is more article based than other magazines, which some people might not like, but it has some interesting articles.

Thanks for the heads-up on that offer CoolBoardr. The bag alone is nearly worth that and I buy the magazine anyway. I actually nearly bought the same bag on saturday. So glad I didnt now.

I usually read Practical Photographer, I think its a very good magazine.

After that, i buy Black and White Photography every once and while, but I think it tends to become tedious after a while.

Once or twice I've picked up one called 'Outdoor Photography' or something similar like that and it was quite good. I only buy PP now and again because it does tend to get repetitive. That and all the adverts make me want to buy stuff...

btw CoolBoardr, how long was it before you received the bag?

Digital Photo, mostly as it has some excellent articles aimed at the beginner (people like me, hah). Case in point: It had a great article on the use of aperature in the last issue that I put to good use with my last lot of photos on flowers.

Fajitas: Agreed, it is a little on the "lite" side, but the people who read it generally aren't those who'll wade through an arcane exposition piece on the same. ;)

They pretty much all have loads of ads, not that that's always a bad thing, but it can be pretty distracting.

I buy different mags ,look through them to see anything interesting.
The most interesting mag lately i thought was black and white photography.

I think most of the mags look the same ,same layout.

Haven't got it yet. I only subscribed a few days ago so I assume it will come with the next issue.

Was lying in the leaba awhile back with a dose of the flu when she who must be obeyed arrived in with a parcel. A grand monopod. Couldn't figure out where in the name of jazus it came from. It took me weeks to remember that it was free with my sub to Digital Photo. :o

Hello Everyone , Followed the link above to subscribe to practical photography cos of the free bag , dont have an issue yet but got the bag this morning.

Its not an Orion its a Lowepro , I dont really mind as the lowepro is more expensive , ( at least in shops here ) , it took about 4 weeks to arrive !

Has anyone else recieved their bags yet and if so did you get the Orion or the Lowepro?

amateur photographer sometimes.photography monthly is usually a wee bit better.only read them in easons and put them back as most of it is repeditive crap rehashed from previous issues. those two gits in(cant remember which one): chang and sumtin else really piss me off aswell. black and white is a nice read sometimes and seems to have a bit off class about it (although this cud be seen as upyerarseness aswell i suppose).

pick little bits from each is the way forward i reckon - and dont believe everything u read - once u know the rules they are there to be broken!

The bag that practical photography are giving away is a Lowepro Orion Trekker. Not sure whether its the original or the mark 2 version. Mine arrived this morning but I havent seen it yet.

I got mine about a week ago, I think its the mark 2 version. Good quality bag, but there's nowhere for a tripod... it was free though so im not complaining though.
