Was looking at them earlier this year. I guess they'd be a handy investment if you had money to spare and a use for them. I'll invest in one when I have a spare few bob about during the summer, but I can't see them as an essential item. I'd imagine your shots would have to be very very planned.

for the price it looks like fun...but for how long...

I think they are too expensive...

I'm not entirely convinced by the effect though.. Most of the shots end up having a 70's kitsch soft focus cheesy wedding photo look... But then i suppose thats down to the people who are taking the pics.

DDOI (Daily Dose of Imagery) has done a number of shots with the Lensbaby, some interesting ones.

Here's a sample. Do a search for Lensbaby on the site for more.

Im not a huge fan of em really.

The effect is a bit clichéd really, wedding shots as was said!

There's a pretty interesting article somewhere on www.photo.net on them.

The selective focusing is pretty handy alright, and I would imagine it would come accross quite handy if you were in a studio/portrait situation.

Photojunkie (www.photojunkie.ca) also comes up with some interesting lensbaby stuff sometimes. I thought about getting one a few months back to mess around with but haven't done anything about it as yet.
