On his pit-walk, Brundle said that Schumacher wouldn't talk to him as they had fallen out about 3 years ago.

Anyone know why they fell out?

Yes, it had something to do with what Brundle said about Schumacher in one of his books, Schumi then decided not to give Brundle any more interviews as a result.

i think i remember brundle saying something on tv ( maybe this was in his book) a few years ago. he said that when they were team mates that he beat schumacher times once (or twice) and schumacher would not share any info from then on. all schumi testing times and car set up info were not shared with brundle.

thats rubbish..... the fact is that, Martin Brundle attacked Michael's Driving style, calling him arrogant, a bully and a dangerous driver. Martin Brundle has since apologised to Michael but Schumi refused to accept on the grounds that he had it on good authority that Martin was forced into doing it by ITV, so he might get an interview with Michael.

I think that is just a rift between 2 people that may never be sorted out...

    c'est la vie !

I have his book Working the Wheel and he does criticise Schumacher for the two incidents involving Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve - perhaps this is what annoyed Schumacher.

But Brundle also has a go at loads of other drivers too, not in a vicious way.

It's a brilliant book by the way, for anyone interested in F1 - the best I've read on the subject.

Yeah Brundle's book is great, full of brilliant anecdotes. It's not out 3 years though. So the spat must be over something else.

Perhaps Schumacher just doesn't want to be bothered to give some asinine comments on the grid?

I would have to agree with ya that Brundles gridwalks are not so special. They are a nice idea but not exactly informative. I doubt that is the reason though. I'd say Schumi is a bit grumpy about Brundles comments.

True enough, but maybe his comments were printed before...in his newspaper column or somewhere else.

I'll just have to go and ask them both . . .

This is taken straight from itv-f1.com where Martin is answering questions this week..

    Hi Martin

I’m a big fan of your grid walks and the plan to get Bernie’s daughter to ask Schumacher a few questions at Imola was great; shame it didn’t work out! You mentioned you fell out with Michael a few years ago and don’t talk to each other much as a result. Can you remember why?

    Robert Booth
    Manchester

    Dear Robert

It is a funny thing but I get great comments all over the world about the grid walks and I have yet to see one on TV! I have caught glimpses here and there but I have never really had the inclination to watch them. I hate seeing myself on TV.

I thought Tamara Ecclestone did really well, and when she said she wanted to get into TV I suddenly had the idea of giving her a platform to show her skills.

It really miffs me that Michael won't talk to other television companies on the grid except the Germans, especially as he rightly has so many fans in the UK.

If you notice, we actually get very little access to him through the year and only Ross Brawn really looks after us. It is crazy on their part because the UK is an important market for F1, Ferrari and their sponsors.

Michael took exception to something I was quoted as saying which had been taken completely out of context by a German newspaper.

I think it was about three years ago and I think it was me being critical of him for driving people off the road when he had a bad start. I cannot fully remember and nor can he, so it's really not important.

    That's cleared that up

    Tamara Ecclestone is tasty enough

there is always two side of the coin no matter the denomination, but one thing is certain - there has never been a greater driver than SHUMI and the formula 1 fans, no matter whom they support should be greatful we have such a driver

The day he stands up to a challenge from a team mate like Senna and stop "moderating" who he works with, I may be inclined to agree. Until then the jury will always be out IMO.

Also, his spin from a double-digit position in the World Karting Champs in 2001 doesnt help his ranking with me.

Theres no doubt he is a great driver, but I dont think he's quite the God that he is made out to be by some people, espcially by some who should know better.

i dont think i meant shumi is a god. it only happened that it was since shumi
joined ferrari that the team made so much progress and won all those races. i cannot posssibly take away any honours he totally deserves. perhaps you can mention just one driver from the formula 1 history that equalled shumi's successes??
