When will there be a Xbox 360 Price Drop

Thinking about buying one but would rather do it after any price drop.

Any one klnow when this is likely to happen? Or even a time frame?

Also I heard a rumor that they arent making core systems any more. Is that true?

If I was a betting man I'd put money on a price drop a fortnight before the PS3 release (late November). The rumour you heard about core systems not being continued is what you said it was, a rumour, I haven't heard anything myself but I wouldn't say it's true to be honest.

Not for a while I reckon. Like Laguna said, the PS3 launch seems like the most likely time for a drop.

They are changing the CPU design at the end of the year to make it quieter and less expensive - I would image that would be a good time to reduce the price.

I was hoping that it might follow what the psp did and fall in price after 6 months. Wishfull thinking maybe!

Suppose November isnt to far away and buy then there should be a lot of games coming out for christmas

The day after I buy one if past experience is anything to go buy. In fairness though, I think it's too expensive at the moment and although I'd consider myself a fairly serious gamer, I won't buy one until the price drops.

The fact that Oblivion is the only 'must-have' game for me doesn't help either.

There hasnt been many games yet that have caught my eye and I suppose the longer you wait the better eselction you will have.

The plan old Xbox will do me till Christmas. Or if Halo 3 comes out before that but from what I've heard there Christmas will come first

I was reading last week about a possible 100USD price drop in late October which would tie in nicely with the PS3 launch. Also in the same article was the 100GB hard drive upgrade that will also become available in the same timeframe.

E3 is just around the corner, some things will come out of that too.

Also the 100gb upgrade. That will hardly be standard will it? I assume its a paid upgrade

Well if it's true you can rightly expect MS to be touting it in the face of Sony, it's my opinion that it would be almost seemless, we'd get it within a month of anywhere else.
