Problems with Stop Errors ans system crashing

For a start, any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

I am a first time PC builder and a few weeks ago completed building my first machine. I have provided the spec below, and my problem is this:

Initially the machine ran very smoothly, then I started seeing occasional stop errors and the machine rebooting itself. Initially I though this was the graphics card as the stop erros seemed to be graphics related i.e. a message displaying "try disabling your video adapter" or the stop message pointing to the file ati2dvag.dll. After some messing around with drivers etc. I decided to replace my graphics card. Since that the stop errors are much more frequent and variant and the machine is now unusable as it could reboot itself as much as every few mins.

The latest stop error I seem to be receiving is "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".

Can anyone help me with this? Or even advide me on the best way to trouble shoot it to find what device is causing the machine to crash. I have already been advised that it may be the power supply or the motherboard but do not want to replace these unless I am quite sure that either is the cource of the problem. My hardware consists of the following:

    1 X AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz Socket 939, 1MB
    1 X Corsair TWINX2048-3200 DDR-DIMM 2048MB Kit w/two matched CMX1024-3200 DIMMs
    1 X Sapphire Radeon X1600PRO 512MB DDRII, PCI-Express, Tv-Out, DVI-I, Lite-Retail
    1 X Sapphire Pure Innovation, Socket-939, ATI RX480+SB450, ATX, GbLAN, PCI-Ex16
    1 X Samsung SpinPoint P120S 250GB SATA2 8MB 7200RPM

    My power supply came with:
In-Win X710G(S) Full Tower ATX Silver Case w/430W PSU, Lcd Panel, USB 2.0

I am running XP professional SP2 with media centre.
