I was just wondering what Vitamin Supplements are best - looking for reasonably good value here as well.

At the mo, im extremely busy with college and am up very early practically every morning. Ive been noticing im VERY tired in the mornings - more than usual. I reckon im not taking in enough Vitamins - i know the best way to do so is to eat lots pf fruit, which is something im finding difficult to do given the fact that im rarely home these days and i always forget to pack fruit in the mornings.

Anyways, i just started taking Rubex yesterday - ive taken it before during less hectic times and found it decent enough for the amount ya pay for it. Anyone take this? If so, how did ya find it? Anyone got any beter alternative supplements?

P.S. Im a 21 yr old male - 5'10, 188lbs. (just in case thats relevent in terms of Vitamin needs!)

generally speaking vit supplements are just that- supplements. best thing is to take a lookat your diet and identify where you may be lacking. use fitday.com or nutritiondata.com to input your average daily food and it will tell you where you may be defficient. These do on recommended daily amounts for the average person though, so you will need to bear that in mind for some minerals- lifters benefit from having extra zinc and magnesium as well as oodles of vit C to helps with DOMS. But where possible try to get your vits from foods- in their natural form most vits and mins are much more readily absorbed by the body as opposed to synthetic compunds. Also remember that for many of them any excess just gets excreted by the body, so there's really littl or not point taking anything in huge amounts (some minerals can be toxic if taken to the extreme).

If you mean additives/ preservatives etc check the labels. and even better, eat unprocessed. buy organic from farmers markets. grow your own. wash fruit and veg before you eat it. in an ideal world everything would be 100% clean, untouched and free of chemicals. but this is far from the ideal world. make intelligent choices about the food available. quite simple really.

I think he might have meant how do you know the values of protein, carbs, sodium, and the huge list of other nutrients in your food. Eating plenty of fruit and veg is what id love to do but dont have time, ill always try and have fruit before I leave in the morning but can forgets quite a bit. I know the whole vitamins and supplements are kinda coming back to the whole people are getting lazy and convience is better than quality but we live in a high paced society!

yeah, we do, but that's still an excuse!! its just as easy to buy a piece of fruit as it is to buy chewing gum, or a cup of coffee. and its easy to ge the nutritional data from the web-sites i mentioned. Getting your 5+ fruit and veg a day just takes a bit of preparing- have the fruit and veg in the house- stir fry it, salad it, roast it... there's lots of ways to do it!!!!

    the basics:
good regular food, meat, greens, fruit, nuts fish etc
more sleep(go w/ natures cycle of light dark.also don't stay in bed after you wake even if you're tired. get up. then you shift back your bedtime naturally), more sex, less alcohol, casein at bedtime w/fishoils, etc

food: APPLES!!!!! i find them great to start the day. and theres an old husbands tale about them being as good as coffee to wake you.

Let you in on an exam secret of mine-vivioptal capsules. They are a multi vitamin like centrum, i've found an amazing difference when i take them coming up to exams. I like to think my diet is sufficient at all other times of the year so dont bother then. Gives you buckets of energy. I also take fish oil tablets from "Lamberts" not sure if they are any good, maybe someone else here knows, the chemist recommended them-maybe just clearing stock!!

Unfortunitely, with exams (finals) on at the moment, a good diet is pretty much out of the question - im never at home for dinner (in college 9am til at least 9pm), so its student bar food for dinner nearly every day - as well as a lot of coffee! Likewise, more sleep is not an option - however, alcohol is out of the question (until the several night binge once the exams are finished!). I like the more sex idea - thats a sacrifice im willing to make!:D

I must give those a go - i also find that my diet is sufficient at all other times - exam time is a whole different deal. Cheers folks for the answers.
