So was this drink that inspired the icecream simple named after the colour or was it after a misunderstood phrase?

cos late last week when I simply typed ireland into google vids or youtube I got surprised number of home-videos 'Irish americans' doing 'Irish car bombs'!!!

equally crudely named drink I think, try it yourself I have no idea what is in it being a non-alco.

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6806028894774642900&q=irish+car+bomb&pl=true

I can't find the part on the PR or website where it says it was used to "sell it as a ‘celebration of Irishness’ in America "

    Irish Car Bomb
    1/2 pint Guinness
    1 oz Jamison
    1/2 oz Bailey's Irish cream

Pour Guiness into a pint glass. Float Baileys on top of Jamison in shot glass. Drop shot glass, carefully, into Guiness. Drink quickly before it curdles.

    Black and Tan
    8 ounces Beer (Amber, Bass)
8 ounces Beer (Irish Stout, Guiness)

Half-fill a pint glass with amber beer, then carefully add the stout so that it floats on top of the amber.

I think the Car bomb would be nicer.

The 'Drink before curdling' part of a car bomb puts me off...

i dont know, im think the irish car bomb would probabaly blow you away after just one or two.
the black and tan would be more likely to just shoot you.

hey look, i made the political funnay!

...and destroyed it by pointing it out! :v:

I've had a few black and tans in my time. Not much point really. You're either in the mood for supping ale, or quaffing pints of the porter black.

Personally, an Irish car bomb sounds like a disaster. Brandy and Bailey's is quite nice though. You have to be ready to drink a manner of semi-solid though. Lovely texture.

Well those two have just been added to my "things to injest" list. Cheers.
