Crazy Word

Words just gone a bit crazy on me. I have spent hours on a document listing stuff etc and it was all perfect but suddenly all these wierd things started to appear. I know ive just hit the wrong key somewhere but its annoying as its the same on my saved document, what on earth have i done wrong here to get in such a mess

There should be a button on your toolbar that looks the same as the symbol in your first pic. Click it once to hide them from your document.

They just show up where the return key was pressed, they won't show up when you print.


Tools -> Option -> View tab - > In the "Formatting marks" section uncheck everything and click ok

If you ever feel like a change, Open Office works just as well.

Ah the wonderful world of word processing!;)

This is the most important feature of Word. It should be switched onn and off at will. It shows all the spaces, tabs, manual line returns, tables etc.

Most users treat wordprocessing like a typewriter and this is why their documents are all over the place. Word is a complicated beast and has far more to it tha hitting tghe space bar, tab and return keys.

But then again, there is no manual supplied with most pirated software.

The amount of trouble the OP went to to show his problem illustrates this point.

Thanks for that all. I have used word for many many years but ive never had to dive intot he more complicated parts of it They were distracting me beyond belief so thanks for your help all!
