apparently, oysters change sex depending on the temperature of water around them............
Just imagine morphing into a chick (or a dude) when it gets a little warmer (or colder).
    Your thoughts please........

It's the one known cure for spots on one's willeh.

I know people who can morph into, not chicks, but other animals when the temperature is right. It has to be hot though.

    Temperature or chemistry?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Demetrius

Temperature often has an effect on chemistry. Can speed up or hinder reactions. Has to be right for everything to happen smoothly. Catylsts may also need to be used.

    Dopamine?

Pff, chemistry is the easy way out for people who can't understand atomic and quantum physics...

Frogs do it, if there are too many of one genders some of them switch.

Sexual oyster morphing? Is this why eating oysters is suggested to enhance sexual desire in humans? Aphrodisiac?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

I think it's because after watching a bunch of half-dead molluscs writhing in pain from the lemon juice and then eating them, just about ANYTHING would be sexy by comparison.

Or there's some sort of subconscious vore thing going on, in which case anyone who considers oysters an aphrodisiac should be shot in the arms and then tied up with flaming ropes.

It may very well be. Though there are supposed to be a wide range of aphrodisiacs. They can range from chocolate to coffee to certain types of fruit. Alcohol in some people can be a factor. The important thing is experimentation and see what does it for you.

There might be utility in constructing a scale that establishes the relative effects of certain organic and inorganic substances in terms of influencing human sexual behaviour; i.e., showing the relative position of morphing oysters to other substances in producing this effect?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Demetrius

A correlation could be found. It would almost certainly be linear in nature

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 335 ✭✭Banphrionsa

Perhaps curvilinear for foxes and panthers?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 335 ✭✭Banphrionsa

Especially if they morph into humans?

I think Id like to morph into an oyster. It might be interesting. Or even a clam. A largish clam. But would i be safe? Theyre supposed to be endangered

Morph into a oyster or a clam? Me? A mermaid. But don't they eat clams?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Demetrius

Unfortunately thats the way of Mother Nature. These female archetypes are always conspiring against the male. Better to be consumed than being the last in existence

But wouldn't he then become a part of her?

Didn't Sir Arthur Conan Doyle write a Sherlock Holmes story about a researcher who dosed himself with some animal's parts to make him more virile, so that he could date an younger girl? I think it drove him mad? Then again, maybe it was the younger girl?

You want to confuse an oyster ?
    http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/what-lurks-beneath--fleshsucking-sex-fiends/2006/01/20/1137734154394.html

Crocodile eggs also switch sex depending on the temperature, but they don't switch back later.

    Some fish change sex midlife.
