What now?

I've recently started playing cash games, having previously being purely a tournament player. I've used previous posts by several posters as education (as I did when I started tournament play) and am slowly getting the hang of things. I started at .50/1 and did well and have just moved to 1/2. My main obstacle now, I think, is reacting to aggression from decent players and bet sizing. I know a lot of people will say that it differs not a lot between cash and tourney, but I find decisions easier to make in tournaments, depending on the dynamics of the situation.

The situation below outlines some of my problems. The villain is a decent player at these levels, we have clashed quite a lot and he usually shows down good hands but is not above making moves where he spots weakness. Should /could I have done anything differently in the hand below? And would you fold/call/raise on river? Any/all critcism is welcome.

i just call the last bet, if he gets lucky AK or with KQ then so be it. you could put him on a set here too as he bets the flop maybe to protect against a flush and when you raise he puts you on a made hand rather than a draw. once the flush doesnt come on the turn he checks to you maybe to induce a bet and flat calls again. then bets out for more value on the river. he could have had AsKs and had a monster draw so value bet the flop and then just checked the turn so he wouldnt have to call a raise or maybe even get a free card. the bet on the river looks suspiciocious you could be behind but quite prob ahead...

    how did it turn out?

Why do you minraise the flop? Make it 40 to go. I don't know about your play on the turn. The river certainly looks like he is betting for value. I call these small bets every time and never yet has villain been bluffing.

looks like KQ to me.. i have a terrible tendency to pay off river bets too.. how'd it turn out?

TBH all I could see at river was KQ. But this is the crux of my query. My minraise on the flop was bad as RT says and thereafter I didn't have a clue where I was. So a bigger reraise on flop (how much?) and fold if rereraised? Bigger bet (how much?) on turn once there? As it was, I made a crying call on river and he was bluffing AJ. Which is what made me think I reeked of weakness. I won a nice pot but probably more by accident than design which is not good in the long run.

Did he have As Js? If not he is a retard. You min raise the flop showing strength and then he calls a big bet on the turn with no outs planning on making a crappy bluff on the river.

Default play it to raise the flop properly, like to at least 30 or 40 If he reraises then you should normally fold, unless you think he could play KQ this way (most players wouldnt) - Check turn then call a river bet assuming it blanks. Or you could flat call flop then raise or flat call a blank turn.

Raise flop properly. You didn't sufficiently cut any drawing odds he might be looking for. If he's willing to pay, make him do so.

2/3 pot on turn. Call river.

Yes. And his bluff at the river was "crappy"!
