    Hide the modem :)

Change some TCP/IP settings or something. Removing the modem would surely work best?

change your ip address settings to something like 249.240.235.36 and DNS to something similar, you could also change the BB password on the modem or the username to something different that should put a block on her activities, and just in case you could also block any bebo addresses through your browser, and if all that fails blow up your niece ;)

Open Compter Properties -> Device Manager. Find your ethernet card, right click and disable it. (Disable, not remove!)

This means that the connection won't even show up in the Start/Connections menu. All the relevant cables will look fine, it probably won't occur to her to look there.

Could you not just password project you computer? What service do you have if it comes with a router, you can password the router, and disable the connection from there, that way she would need you to switch it back on for her to gain access.

Disconnect the LAN cable and cut it in half in front of her to show her you mean business:D

And that is why that is not a good idea.

Just into control panel/administrative tools/services and disable all services related to networking. Also you could disable all usb and network adapters in device manager, if you can live without usb connectivity for one week.

What OS are you using? XP Home / XP Pro / Other???

Just password the login and set the screen saver password, of course if its Home then the safe mode admin back door is left wide open by micro$oft but what can ya do.

If its Pro then you can set up an acc for her but set a group policy that won't allow her to use network resources or change any network setting. :)

the BroadBand password on the modem,
    step 1 Enter Expert Mode,
step 2 click on Configure and advanced,
step 3 click on the routers password ,
step 4 select Enable Local Admin Login: and choose password
and the username is admin its default ,

on the home page of broadband router you can click disconnect ......

this information for netopia router, eircom isp,
the default ip add for the router is 192.168.1.254(gateway) ,

If she's too young to be doing whatever she was doing he should have always been supervising her online activities.

EDIT: Just realised she was 16, nevermind.
