Have to say... I'm really impressed by the z5 pedal. Good heavy duty and controls everything on the amp. The finish is great too. This is how all pedals should be made imo :p

    Nice - congrats man!

You know, if you want me to look after the amp for you while you're waiting for your guitar - it's not a problem! ;)

The floor isn't very metal though. More of a rock floor...

The floor may be rock but check out that cast iron stove in the background. Now THATS metal for ya :p

Love the facial expression in the ENGL logo reflection! The carpet though, purple is a bit deathmetal imo

It's blue actually. And it's a lovely carpet. :) Yeah the reflection is pretty unforgiving. I'm far more beautiful than that.

Ah you bastard, you stole my box format of unveiling new gear. Ah I suppose it's so good, it was only a matter of time. ;)

But, you bastard! You got an Engl! That's really sweet. I'll have one of my own at some stage. :o

I bought a few nice bits of gear lately and not once did i have the patience to do an unveiling like that. I must post up my new gear....

Actually, I was wondering if this was the Thunder Reverb or not?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,896 ✭✭✭fish-head

You should build a knife rack into the side of it, never know when it could come in handy..

Mine is a screamer 50. Has reverb on it as well

    Oh it's a screamer? I didn't realise. :o

The thunder has the kind of finish like the z5 pedal around the controls. The screamer has a polished mirror like chrome

Ah yes. Seems to have a different speaker aswell, as the Thunders come with V30s.

So, how's she treatin' ya so far?

I have two acoustics but wouldnt even try plug them into it. lol. Ah my strat should arrive this week anyway. With any luck I'll be playing my new rig tomorrow night when I get home from college

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,204 ✭✭✭Kenny_D

Well my guess was right. My lovely new strat came through the letter box this morning ;) lol. Only had a chance to play it through the micro cube before leaving for college but WOW. It sounds fantastic and looks great too. Might throw up some pics later if I get time. Gonna be a LONNNG day in college today :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭Quattroste

WTF did you bother going to college for anyway? I wouldn't have made it anywhere but room with ENGL and Strat and water! Close door, turn up volume, tissue for bleeding ears, tissue for other reasons, play! :D

Haha funny story actually. I was leaving the house at 8.25am and as I was walking out the door the delivery van pulled up. Said fook that and went back in to check out the guitar. lol. So didnt go in for the first two lectures. Only got to play it through my micro cube though as it was too early in the morning to crank the ENGL. It sounds great unplugged, really resonant and a nice sound. It sounds soo good plugged in. Hadnt played a good strat before but I think I'm converted. The neck pickup sound is really fat and the cleans from the bridge are wonderful. And this was through the cube. If I didnt have an exam today theres not a chance I would have came in

/me strokes his ENGL. *rawr*..... IT AWAKES!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 24 Neurohacker

Saw the pics of the Tokai in your other thread. Colour is really cool. How does it sound through the ENGL? I kinda assume that the ENGL would really only show its teeth with a 'bucker in the bridge, but I may be wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,204 ✭✭✭Kenny_D

It sounds great. Only thing is the single coils are subjected to feedback at higher levels more so than a humbucker equipped guitar would. Saying that, I am going to get a cheapish second hand ibanez or something with humbuckers for some heavier sounds. For the strat, I'm probably gonna get another Maxon OD808. Fantastic pedal, did wonders for my les paul through my Peavey Classic 50 before I sold them

Giblet you play a strat through your Engl too dont you?? What settings you got the amp on?
