Names on the census

    If the info on the census is not used for any purpose other than gathering stats and government planning and the like, then why do they want your name and the name of the company you work for?

    Surely all they need to know is stuff like a Male aged 45 from #5 crumlin road works at #11 Dawson street. Why the need for names?

    I wondered that myself when the enumerator said it was all confidential and anonymous etc..

    i think asking for names is over the top, it's an excessive invasion of privacy, fcuk'em

    Well, in a 100 years time(Ok, just to clarify this, this yer's census in confidential until the 2106.) your future grandchildren will be able to view your census, so to either help them solve family secrets or create a family tree. That's why they ask your name.
