    Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has any table of the rates for this across the country, I had never heard of it before today.
Kilkenny charges 541 euro for turbines with a hub height of less than 50m.

This is a total joke IMHO, there should be grants available for domestic sized turbines, not charges!

    Interesting point

Sustainable Energy Ireland leafet on Wind Energy Econcomics Why it pays to invest in wind, make reference to rates.

    I quote:

    "Boosting Local Authority Rates"
Wind farm development companies, investors and landowners are not the only parties who may gain financially from the establishment of a wind farm development. Local Authorities receive rate payments based on the sale of electricity from each wind farm within its boundaries. rates are calculated on the amount of electricity sales that the wind farm makes, so the better the wind speeds, and the larger the wind farm, the higher the rates. Each Local Authority uses different rateable values, but typically each megawatt installed generates over €5000 for the local authority."

If everyone were to install domestic turbines there will be a substantial loss of revenue to the government, local authorities, wind energy companies. Naw domestic turbines will never be allowed to happen.

Some Domestic turbines are exempt from planning and therefore levies
