My ebay account was hacked somebody got into it and set up a load of sales 6 in total within 7 hours ebay noticed this and 'restored' my account.ie reset password and secret question .They sent me an email explaining how to reset my password but on the secret question page they reckon there will be a link to send password information below the continue button.Its not there i have emailed them but they just send standard reply ,i dont think they actualy read the email.I tried to set up a new account today and even though i registerd fine i cant access the account my password and secret question are not recognised.I would rather not lose my original account as i had 100 % rating and i have been using account for nearly 2 years.Anybody manged to get an account back after something like this

Have you followed these steps?

1. Go to the Site Map (the link can be found at the top of most eBay.ie pages).
2. Click on the "Forgot Your Password" link under the "My Account" header in the middle column.
3. On the following page, enter your User ID and click "Continue >".
4. On the next page, you need to answer one or more of the following questions correctly, if you don't know your new secret question, there is other info you can provide.
5. When you click the next "Continue >" button, an email will be sent to your registered email address that will help you create a new password for your account.

JJ the problem is that none of the information matches it has either been deleted by ebay or changed by the hacker...... I will try and delete cookies and see if that helps

When you follow the above steps, one of the pieces of info that you're asked for is your date of birth. This piece of information cannot be edited or deleted on your account. Also, if eBay restored your account, they would've restored your contact information to what it was before the account takeover.

If all else fails, request a temporary password. You will need to supply your contact information (name, addy and phone number) first before this can be sent to your registered email address.
