Did you have problems with Hearth and Home? I certinaly did I would consider them a bunch of cowboys who pull prices from the air. My gf got quoted a figure for a gas fire and a few days later the same fireplace increased in price their arguement was it was a higher spec one which according to my gf it wasn't. Then they wanted more money as they claimed the gas line wasn't connected. When I rang up and complained the guy who answered replied I'm not paid to take this and hung up on me

That sounds terrible!!! I went to see them and though the guy was useless - didn't seem to have a clue about prices alright. There was 2 glass covered fires and there difference in price was 1500 and he couldnt explain why. Useless.

I agree with previous comment even if it was 2006!!!! I had the same experience recently. They were simple pulling figures out of the air and when I done a little bit of research I was able to get something much cheaper and more importantly friendlier people who did not have an attitude and valued the customer! The young chap was nothing short of rude and needs a fast track course on customer service, I could not recommend them to anyone and will not be returning! That is a very short summary of my experience but it was not a good experience in any case! I rang the fireplace shop in Navan and while I did not buy from them they were second to none in terms of customer service and just so nice and informative it was a breadth of fresh air to be honest....first time I have written on any Forum but was sickened with the 'attitude' of Hearth & Home....

Similar to our experience. They were a complete waste of space when it came to after sales service.
Never again will I deal with them, and I've warned a few off them since. Their loss, we are on the look out for a new inset stove and fire surround later this year and we won't be going anywhere near them.

Same here- a total shambles. Order late, callback promises not kept, unanswered phones, emails not replied to. One guy blaming the other for missed collection and the other guy blaming him. They just don't care. AVOID!!
