    Hi,

I was told by a gym instructor that to burn fat you need to do 'low intensity' exercise and to develop fitness I need to do higher intensity exercise. Well my question is this - If I plan to exercise for 40mins - 1 hour an evening, should I walk brisky for say 20/30mins then jog for 20/30mins with the goal of losing some fat and building fitness at same time? or is it better to alternate days, i.e brisk walk one day, jog next day etc.?
Also, How do I work out my ideal Heart rate where I'll burn fat, the instructor said keep heart rate at 145 but I'm wondering is this a genral guide and there might be some way to calculate one specifically for me?

I'm 25, 5'10" and weigh 77kgs. I have some fat on stomach, hips and thighs but nothing I know I can't burn off in under 6 months.
Also, I have an ok diet which I'm constantly improving on.

If I'm being simplistic and there's more info needed let me know and I'll reply.

    Thanks!
