    Hi,

Does anyone know if the Civil Service is still recruiting for temporary summer jobs and if so who do you apply to? I am enquiring on behalf of my sister who is sitting her Leaving Cert in June and will be lookig for a job. Also are there certain age and educational qualification requirements for the job?

Hey, I'm doing the exact same thing for my two younger sisters.
The civil service was advertising for people on the publicjobs website until last Thursday for temp summer staff. I just had a quick check and the ad is no longer there so its obviously too late.

There's a huge Revenue Commisioner office in our town and they are advertising for staff in our local paper.
Have you checked your local paper?
I'd imagine there's big competition for these jobs among students and I hope it doesn't come down to who you know on the inside

I think they require a leaving cert but unsure of grades. How would it work if you don't know your leaving cert results until the summer was almost over?

TBH the people who were in the civil service last summer will get preference first (i.e the likes of me!) so there mite be feck all jobs goin (I could be wrong tho). I think you have to be at least 18 first. I was amazed at how simple the procedure is, apply on net and answer aptitude type q, if u have wat it takes they call u to chapter house to go through menial details (TBH) like how are you on filing, photocopying etc (Like FFS its not that hard). One thing ill say the civil service is not for all and it can be tough some times especially those customer facing roles where the "customer" may not be all so nice, could be v.tough for a 18yr old to handle and it would be v.easy to lose the head.

I believe the competition is now closed for this year.

Do you have to work somewhere where you have to deal with the general public, Are there many IT/computer type jobs? :)

I'm surprised they are recruiting seperately, as it's normally the Public Appointments Service that do it. They closed the general competiton a couple of weeks ago. Revenue Commissioners must be really in need of staff this summer!

Give this crowd a ring. They are also looking for admin staff.

It's for Ulster Bank but they won't tell you that. Plenty of positions in Dublin anyway.

BTW, I don't work for this agency. Was researching jobs for my younger sister as you can see in a previous post in this thread
