The time to go and see them is 2010 or 2011.

I'm not sure of the exact date, but there is a cycle
    every 10 years or so.

In 2001 occured the last cycle and there were
mad reds, blues, yellows crazy stuff all over the place.

I am definately going to be back in Northern Finland
    that Autumn.:)

You are right they are Canada also also.

The picture at the page above gives the current
    location of the electromagnetic activity.
As you can see the Northern parts of Canada
    are covered.:)

I live in southern Finland and this past winter was the first winter in my 8 years of living here that I haven't seen the northern lights. It's not a 10 year cycle like you said. There's a website somewhere (can't remember where) that can show you when and where to expect northern light with 2-3 days' notice. We, in Finland, normally are informed by the daily newspapers that the northern lights should be seen that following evening.

    nice photos

I saw the Northern Lights once in Ardnacrusha, Co. Clare. Was on my way to work one morning about 5am and had to do a double take, I couldn't believe it. Didn't have a camera unfortunately

Saw them in Dublin years ago but very faint. I was supposed to go to Iceland this summer but can't afford it now :(

Good stuff - nice pics. I seen so many of these Northern Lights when I was in northern Sewden 3 years ago. Your photos instantly brought back so many memories.

    Nice one.
