Cute things your pet does

Just wondering if people have stories about the cute things their pets do. I'll start off.

My cat has a tendency to fall asleep in the middle of playing. She could be biting into a bit of string and she will just nod off. She also flops down in the middle of the floor, anywhere for any reason, in the middle of dark halls, in front of doors, flops down on her side and fall asleep with a little bit of her tongue sticking out, sooo cute.:D

Ah I hear you caracal theres nothing cuter than a pet cat/dog being cute. Only last week my dog got all cutey wutey on me. Brought a tear to my eye in fact.

Pighead went for a powernap after a particularly tiring day at work, woke up to find my dog straddling me whilst licking my face, I went:

"Shep stop that fcuking messing, I don't want you licking my face anymore, for all I know you could have been out in the garden licking the cats poo or eating some stinky cow pats.
He goes "That may be so Pighead but the bottom line is I love you dearly"

    Altogether now, Awwwwwwwwwww.

As you can see, plenty of space on the window sill, but no, the head absolutely needs to rest on my seed tray

When my cat comes in from being outside he runs in and starts doing this thing with his legs.. like kind of shakes them all one at a time. It's adorable.

Oft when I walk down the stairs, my cat cunningly secretes herself in the blindspot behind the coat-laden bannister. She's rather portly so I usually spy a chunk of fur jutting out on the way down, but its still entertaining when she leaps out to suprise me at the bottom.

my cat acts like a dog. for example she runs around the house with a ball of socks in her mouth. if i was on the couch or on the bed she would jump up, i would throw the socks, she will pick them up and return to me with them. this could go on for hours. i love her

My dog hides under the throw on the chair and thinks we don't see her and when someone passes the chair she tries to supprise them or bite them ..its very funny to see.:D

One of our cats whines until you throw her toy mouse down the hall, she then charges after it, returns it to your feet and whines until you throw it again. I think she thinks she's a dog. She also sleeps in the weirdest way (see near the bottom of http://board.irishanimals.ie/index.php?showtopic=23720)....

The way my little west highland Millie (one of two) likes to stretch out her legs completely behind her, and then drag her entire body down the hallway using her front legs, up and down for ages, almost as if shes paralyzed. Why she does it is a mystery.

    But it really is cute!

Not my pet but my friends have a kitten, Stabby, who likes to be worn as a scarf. I was staying with them when they first got her and was in the kitchen and she kept trying to climb up the leg of my jeans. I kept peeling her off and finally she sat at my feet and waited until I had a glass of water in one hand and plate in the other, thus was defenceless, and she shot up my leg and then my back and draped herself around my neck, occasionally moving from shoulder to shoulder. Very difficult to get her to come down :D

My husband got me a kitten for my birthday last year and she is the stupidest but cutest cat in existence. She charges around the house chasing nothing and is often running into walls. She also has a great habit of putting money under the carpet. We have wooden floors and any coin that she can get her paws on, be they on the floor, on the couch, on the table etc she swipes with her paw and puts them under the rug. We check every couple of weeks and usually find a small fortune. She done this once with a 100 euro chip from the casino my husband had won. This wasn't so cute as we'd ripped the house apart looking for it.:D

lol :D My Yorkie used to do that too, is it like he's swimming? Cos that's kinda what Bess used to do (in her heyday).

my doggie likes to cover her head with her blanket (or have me do it) then she snaps at you through it-its like she blindfolds herself with it and then has to guess where you are so she can bite you...it's wierd.

she also has this things she does every morning where she sticks her bum in the air and head on the ground and propelled by her back legs she rubs her head along the carpet, alternating sides.

is it a cocker spaniel thing to make wierd crooning and nom-nom noises? i swear shes trying to talk.

my cat, Lucy, likes to barge her way into my bedroom in the morning and wake me up by licking any part of my body that isn't covered by the duvet. (while purring like a maniac)
i'm a fairly light sleeper, so would be woken by the door opening, not the licking.
incredibly annoying if you're hungover, but still cute as hell:)

My two cats roll over on their backs when they see me coming home from work. I used to rub their bellies when they were younger now its expected by them. One of them even tries to roll over onto his back when he's onto of the garden wall which usually results in him falling off.

Definitly Narcolepsy, just did a bit of quick reading on Cat Narcolepsy and it doesn't actually harm the cat. If it doesn't bother you and the cat is healthy then there's nothing to worry about.

I was very sick the other day and just flopped onto the bed when my kitten came in and like usual wanted to check if I was still alive :) She always touches my cheek with her paw ever so slightly and then sat down beside me, as to watch over me :) I struggled to make my way into the living room to flop onto the couch and she followed me out and started to groom my hair hehe.

My cat loves to lick noses. She'll greet strangers by jumping into their laps, bumping her nose into theirs and then gives a couple kisses. Also, whenever she's playing, she'll grab said object, give it a quick bite and then start licking it. She's a funny kitty!

Go get yourself a laser pointer, hours of entertainment and your cat will NEVER get tired of it, also good for training :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Rogueish

In the evening when I'm sitting down. Jackie my boxer puppy wiggles and squeezes herself until she is either sitting on my knee or is as close to me as she possibly can be then promptly goes to sleep.

Our bedtime routine is that she comes up and sleeps on the bed til my boyfriend comes up to bed. He then takes her out before putting her into her basket in the kitchen. The other night we were late going to bed and she was being put straight to her basket, she stood at the bottom of the stairs looking at me as if to say are you coming or what?

She's a spoiled brat but I wouldn't change her for worlds.

I was told by my girlfriend that I'm not allowed to use a laser pointer with the cats. They go mad for it when i do use it but when I stop they will continue to look for it for hours and get upset and quite frustrated.

My pet fox is a wild animal, only part domesticated. Hangs around me for some reason, but then will leave for the hills, sometimes coming back home with a leg injury.

Partly domesticated! I bet your fox is offended at that! What warrants this part domestication?

I thought such animals develpoed strong bonds?

He can get pretty wild at times!:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Demetrius

No, there harmless creatures, by and large. They get a little frantic at times. A trip to the vet usually sorts that out.

All those outings in the hills, barking at the Moon, then stumbling back with leg injuries.

It's pretty old, the dog has outgrown the cat *somewhat* ;)

Here's the dog doing some of her tricks... she's a bit distracted :p

i once had a cat who wouldn't leave you alone until he got to suck on your ear lobe.
was annoying as hell, even when you buried your head under the duvet at night he'd still manage to squirm his way under to do it.

i think it was a comfort thing as he was taken away from his mum early.
