I don't mean to be ignorant, but do you have any links? They have just reported that it is not as bad as first taught.

They've just said on the phone show that it's not that big a deal. It was a disused factory. Fires out, shows over.

Is the whole north end of the country on fire then?

Ah The Simpsons....Is there a situation in life for which there isn't a quote from you??

Brockman: Fire, Man's Oldest Foe. Insatiable, remorseless, unquenchable.
    Wiggum: Hey, it's out! [YAAAAY!]
Brockman: [brightly] Coming up next: Which work better? Spring clothespins or the other kind?

I taught he said 50. Yeah he did, he said there were 50 units of the fire brigade there.

Considering there's only 22 in Dublin, that's pretty impressive that there were 50 there. IMO he's talking rubbish.

It wasn't me that made that statement. It was someone on the phoneshow. Dublin don't have many units at all.

Past it on the way home at Howth Junction. Old chemical factory beside the station. Looked like 3 fire engines. Road blocked off by the Gardai, diverting traffic.

Dunno if the fire itself was all that big as I saw it after the fact. Nothing to write home about really :)

Apparently they had the fire under control at 10:01 tonight. They are probablly diverting the traffic just to be on the safe side.

I remember when there was a serious fire behind the house i used to live in. Spread across a good few fields. I was only around 10 and the firemen let me help 'em.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,082 ✭✭✭lostexpectation

second hand reports that the entire second floor on the building is burnt, it going to demolished anyway, they should demo it now its just a firehazard, junky magnet.

there's also that old protected train station building/house thats boarded up but still vunerable... someone suggested it should be turned into a railway history musuem but i don't know how that would keep itself going.

Aldi wanted to put a store there but it got refused on several grounds it, its zoned for science and technology so probably be another PCB factory or lab...
