I am just after buying 2 sticks of ddr2 533 ram for my pc which had 2 extra slots.
I looked up the motherboard manual and it said it could take up to 2gig
Right now i just have 2 sticks of 256mb ddr333

So i put the new ram in and started up but the POST check just wouldnt let it start the monitor was showing no picture
anyone have any clue what i am either doing wrong or what i can do to fix it
As u can imagine i'm quite dissapointed..

Any help would be appreciated thanks.....

Well you are saying that you are using two completely different types of RAM - "ddr" and "ddr2". A motherboard/cpu will use either, not both.

hmm so i will try either one or the other then...

But the manual does say slot 1 and 3 are for ddr2 533/400 and slot 2 and 4 are for ddr333/ddr400

Oh i just saw the warning underneath all that in the manual saying
DDR2 and DDR cant work together.

So that means i can only have 1 gig with 2 512s or 2gig with 2 1gigs....?

I took the ddr333s out and put in the new ddr2 533s i bought but the computer didnt even recognise the ram
So does that either mean bad ram or that my pc just cant take it
