Ive a friend who is after getting her da's old car and he got a new car. Shes early 20's and her da's broker told him he can't be insured first name on two car's but i think this isn't right ...

Whats the deal with being first name driver on 2 cars and someone being second name on one of them? is it just that the da won't be able to take his no claims bonus onto the new car? or what. It would cost a fortune for her to be first name since shes young and on her first provisional

    Thanks

Its probabaly to do with the fact you can only use your no claims discount on one car. You can insure as many cars as you like, and build up as many no claims as you like, but you can only transfer one at a time, ie you cant use no claims built up on one car to insure two seperate cars.

Her dad can be first named on both cars, but can only use his NCB on one. She can be second named on one of them, and it should work out cheaper than insuring in her own name, but on first prov license she is still looking at a hefty premium.
