...But I just saw "Cinema Paradiso" for the first time last night! :D And I'm still pretty psyched over it. What an amazing, amazing, touching film. I had a rough idea that this was a good film before I watched it, but, wow...This is almost certainly in my top 3 now.
Some superbly memorable characters and moments, abundant humour of the most endearing kind, throw in some beautiful Sicilian surroundings, convincing acting and a damn fine Morricone score to boot. The way it plays out its themes; the nostalgia, the regret, all of it so masterfully, so knowingly...
And the collage of missed kisses at the end! I must've sat grinning and laughing for near half an hour
:D Surely one of cinema's most touching moments.
All in all, a universally appealing, wonderfully crafted piece of storytelling. Agree/disagree? I guess everyone else probably loves this film, too

Yeah I love this movie. Back when I was in Transition year in school we had a film class and we were brought to the IFC to watch Cinema Paradiso and have a question answer session after it. I loved it from start to finish. Definitely one of my favourite foreign movies.

Studied it for the leaving cert, loved it. But haven't actually seen it since then, must pick it up again.

Watched it in Transition Year and was really impressed. I nagged my English teacher last year to do it with us but instead we did "A Room With a View" :(

    Must watch it again sometime.

an absolute gem of a film, with morricone's score the icing on the cake. There is a lot to be said for small flicks as in the scale of their story, and the power and feeling that can be generated through a simple tale
