Can DVD RW and CD RW disks be read and or write protected ? I am thinking of a situation where designs / plans / schematics are being stored on disks and you want to shut out access by anyone who might acquire the disks in transit.

In short no.

However Ricoh did demonstrate such a system very recently but who knows when that will be on the market.

Easier method encrypt the data beforehand then burn it to disc just remember to not lose the password

You could put the schematics/designs in a password protected zip/rar file. Use a very long password of random numers and letters to make cracking it difficult. Then simply give the password to the client over the phone, by fax or in a seperate email.
