    Hey Guys,

I was just wondering what your opinions are on the price of the Mac Book Pro - I want to buy one now but they are a tad pricey and finances would be restricted as a result however right now I've had it up to my eyeballs with ****ty assed windows and not just windows - dodgy PC hardware too. What price do you think the Mac Book Pro will drop to in about 3 months?

    Dave

Oh just out of interested do Mac's have backup software that will backup partitions like Ghost etc and do they have backup software that you can run as you shutdown your machine or in the background?

Apples do not drop in price. I'd wait a while until they get all the glitches out of the hardware before buying. Also, the MacBook (updated iBook) will be out next month. Have a look at that first before buying.

Apples do drop in price -- just not as fast as normal x86 component parts! :(

Actually, that gets me thinking -- when Core Duo prices drop, will Apple pass the savings on, or risk staying expensive & let the likes of Dell take sales?

@OP: Dunno about back-up partitions -- I just put all my stuff on CD-R's & a removable harddisk.

It isn't that Apple doesn't lower prices, it's just that when the current Core Duo gets cheaper, they'll put in whatever the latest one is, which will be faster but cost the same, and will also cost the same from the likes of Dell.

If your funds are very constricted, and you can afford to wait a few months, you could wait for Apple's new consumer laptop. Rumours say it will be called MacBook and feature a 13.3" wide screen. Don't count on it being available "in a month". Everybody who claims that as a fact is lying, because nobody knows exactly. Yes, it could be true, but it could also be 3 months away.
